Lessons from Resilience: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Three friends—Su-YenFermin, and Julia—set out to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, determined to push their limits. They knew the climb would be tough, but after months of preparation, they were ready to face the challenge.

The journey was grueling. They navigated five different climates, from humid rainforests to the freezing summit, battling altitude sicknessfatigue, and sore muscles. Yet, through it all, they kept going, supporting each other every step of the way.

After seven days, they reached the summit—exhausted, but with a deep sense of accomplishment. The climb wasn’t just about reaching the peak, but about pushing their limits and learning the power of teamwork and perseverance.

I had the privilege of crafting a video to tell their story, using images and hand-drawn sketches to illustrate their journey. Through this process, I was reminded of the true power of resilience—that with the right mindset and support, anything is possible.

I hope their story inspires you to never give up, no matter the obstacles you face. You have the strength to achieve your dreams if you stay resilient and focused.

The video was premiered at Arcc Spaces, where JuliaFermin, and Su-Yen were invited to share their incredible journey. Their inspiring stories not only captivated the audience but also encouraged others to take that bold leap towards their own personal and professional reinventions.
